Changing your toothbrush head regularly is an essential part of your dental hygiene routine. Research indicates that toothbrush heads are often used well after they have ceased to be useful.

Using the correct tools to achieve the perfect result is a good starting point for improving the condition of your mouth. Ensure that you read the instructions on your new product to make sure that you know when to change the heads on your brush.  The tell tale signs of a head that needs replacing is bending of the tufts or splitting of the bristle fibres. Oral B has a dye indicator that assists in diagnosing wear. Blue dye in the oral B toothbrush wears away over time indicating that the brush head requires changing.  Using a head that is past its best, can lull you into a false sense of security, resulting in a build up of bacteria and calculus over a period of time.

The Philip Sonicare Flexcare units require the heads to be changed every 3 months. This is about correct for this unit if used twice a day. The Sonicare Elite and previous models such as the Excel and Advance require to have their heads changed every 6 months according to Sonicare. Our recommendation is that you should consider changing the heads a little sooner at 3 months.

The benefits of changing your toothbrush heads sooner than recommended will show in improvements in your oral hygiene and will not break the bank either. A good tip is to write on your diary when you should replace the and have a spare head ready. We can supply both Sonicare Flexcare, Sonicare Elite and Braun Oral B Triumph heads.

A good tip that I hear recently is to change your toothbrush at the start of the month.  So if you changed on the 1st of Feb and your change cycle is every 3 months then the next change would be the 1st July. Now isn't that an easier way to remember things?
