Before embarking on this 3 week project it is worthwhile taking a note of where you are and where you want to be. I have listed the main symptoms of dental problems which we will attempt to solve.
| Keeping your teeth in tip top condition takes time and effort. Avoid the following problems by being a regular and thorough brusher. | ![]() |
Dental Pain - dental pain is a symptom of nerve damage to the tooth. The main cause is rotting of the protective casing of the the tooth called enamel and further rotting of the inner layer dentine. This is the symptom most likely to promote an emergency visit to the dentist.
Bleeding Gums - this is a symptom of gum disease. The name gingivitis is often applied to this condition and effectively means inflammation of the gingival (gum) tissues. Gums should not bleed neither on gentle contact such as when brushing or spontaneously when talking or smiling. Left unchecked gingivitis can progress to become periodontitis.
Periodontitis - similar to gingivitis however the bone surrounding and supporting the tooth is reduced with time.
Bad breath - a sign of poor hygiene, bad breath may go unnoticed by the patient until pointed out by another person. Bad breath may be caused by the bulid up of sulphur products or rotting tissure or food particles trapped in awkward to reach areas of the mouth.
Stained Teeth - an obvious symptom of poorly maintained teeth which can be treated rapidly as long as the stain is external or not built into the tooth.
