There are certain habits that can help your teeth and gums become stronger. I'm going to tell you about some of my favourite tips. Try these as part of your plan and you will notice that after 7 days your teeth will feel much smoother and cleaner.
My first suggestion is to limit the amount of meals and snacks that you have in the course of a day. Everytime you have snack or meal, the food helps to increase the bacteria population in your mouth rapidly. This bacteria will produce tooth damaging acid for at least 30 minutes before the saliva buffers the acidity. Stick to two meals and maybe a saliva stimulaing snack such as chedder cheese in the middle of the day.
My second suggestion takes seconds to do. After washing your hands in the bathroom, rinse your mouth out with tap water. Rinsing your mouth out causes loose food particles to be removed and thus limits food for the harmful bacteria. In addition the mouth will feel fresher and tooth damaging acid will be reduced.
Another great idea is to ensure that the food and drink you consume is not going to increase the amount of dental bacteria in your mouth. Have a look at the diet advice portion of this website. You will be amazed at the effect that a little knowledge can have on your health.
Stay well hydrated. The protective nature of saliva works most efficiently when the body has had sufficient water.
Finally make sure that you replace the heads on your toothbrush every two months. Two months may seem a very short period but we are talking about saving your smile. Most dental manufacturers will have systems in place to ensure you change your heads. Forget all those and just mark on your calender the toothbrush or brush head change of your toothbrush.
